Bertha Velasco

Bertha Velasco

Bertha is originally from Mexico City, the capital city of the  beautiful country of Mexico.   She married and moved to the United States right after high school, living in Dallas, Texas, where she attended UNT.  After 18 years of being abroad, she decided to move back to Mexico City with her two sons.

She started learning Buddhism in different locations, traveling to India, Nepal and Tibet in search of teachings.  Her seeds ripened at the time when she met Geshe Michael;  she knew she had found her teacher, and felt for the first time she truly belonged. Shortly after, she began doing translation work for Geshe Michael.

She has a BA in Advertising/Marketing with a minor in Business.  She worked for many years as licensing director in Mexico for big studios such as Lucas Films, Marvel Entertainment, Dreamworks, Sesame Workshop, Nintendo, The Muppets, Fox Studios, Coca-Cola, and major league baseball, among others.  She left the corporate world to focus on topics more aligned to her core values, such as helping other people find and discover their potential.  She completed the ACI 18 Foundation Courses and is dedicated to supporting her teacher Geshe Michael in every possible way.

For many years, she has done translation work professionally and for ACI, providing both simultaneous and written translations for the ACI 18 as well as many other live classes and events. She is a member of the Spanish Translation Project (STP), which translates ACI course material into Spanish.  She has been an international certified coach for over ten years and teaches leadership courses at a corporate level.  Bertha lives in Mexico City, caring for her elderly parents; she loves yoga, dancing, and traveling; and she is a proud grandmother of three.
